Student Insurance

It’s the start of the university year and many new students are embarking on a magical educational adventure. We know how important getting that degree is and, therefore, how handy it can be to have you and your things protected, like if your laptop gets lost or damaged. That’s why we’ve formed an exclusive partnership with the University of Reading to provide insurance to its students. Here’s the low down on what we’re doing with Reading Uni and what we got up to when we attended its recent Freshers’ Fayre.

Student InsuranceHowdy Partner!

According to the Complete University Guide, the University of Reading is 27th in the UK university league table. It is also in the top 1% of research-intensive universities in the world! The university has roughly 15,000 students and its alumni include the likes of musician Jamie Cullum, former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen, comedian Julian Barratt, former BBC World Service Director Richard Sambrook and former Parliamentary Minister Hugh Robertson. For a relatively new brand like ourselves to become the official student insurance partner for an institution like the University of Reading is quite an impressive feat and we’re excited about this new partnership.

Student InsuranceFreshers’ Week Fun

Over the course of three days during Freshers’ Week, societies and organisations were busy meeting students at Reading Uni’s Freshers’ Fayre. We had a stand there too! Students were able to talk to our team about insurance, ask any questions they had and enter our competition to win a year’s supply of Nando’s! As well as that, the pluckiest students also got to join in with our interactive ‘What’s in the Box?’ game. Participants stuck their hands into our turquoise box to feel and guess what items were inside – such as playdough, a toy snake or even a bike horn! Check out our video to see some of the reactions we got – if you took part, maybe you’ll spot yourself!

We released our Student Insurance product in August to coincide with the start of a new year at university. As this term gets into full swing, plenty of freshers all over the country will be embarking on their magical new adventures. Yet, there can be risks to living independently for the first time and so taking out insurance could be useful. Our Pick ‘N’ Mix Student Insurance policy allows you to tailor a level of cover to suit you and your budget, so that you know you are protected and can get on with your studies. You could select the Gadgets and Mobile Phones Elective Benefit to cover your smartphone or your laptop. There is also a discount of up to 30% for new customers, including a 10% NUS discount.
