It’s an exciting time of year for camera enthusiasts. Winter will soon be turning to spring and a whole splash of colour will be spread across the landscape, creating a range of new settings for your photography adventures! It’s also the time of year when many of the top camera manufacturers release their latest products, designed to help you capture some magical shots! At The Insurance Emporium, we believe that keeping up with the latest products might help to add that extra spark to your pictures! There are so many fantastic brands of camera equipment available, we wish we had time to look at them all! We’re not picking favourites but here’s our guide to some of the products that Canon will be firing out in 2018!
Canon’s EOS models have classically been an option for those looking to buy an entry-level camera and take their first steps into serious photography. With its interchangeable lens, the EOS M100 Mirrorless camera could be ideal for those moving from beginner-level smartphone photography to more serious snapping. The camera comes equipped with a touchscreen as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, so it’s easier to send snaps to your other devices. If you’re looking for the perfect selfie then don’t fear! Tilting the screen 180 degrees will put the camera into self-portrait mode. The controls on the camera are relatively straightforward and might prove to be user-friendly enough for even the most inexperienced photographer. For a budding enthusiast this mirrorless camera might just reflect good value!
PowerShot G1 X Mark III
This year marks 18 years since Canon released the first in its PowerShot G1 series. This camera has been one of Canon’s flagship compacts since its initial release in 2000, with many enthusiasts relying on it for its DSLR-quality images. 2018 sees the next model in the series released in the form of the PowerShot G1 X Mark III. You might find yourself impressed by the large APS-C sensor which Canon have managed to squeeze into this relatively small camera. On top of that, it’s actually the first APS-C format compact camera to feature a zoom lens. This could help to set this model apart from its competitors in what is now a relatively busy compact camera market. Much like the Canon EOS model, this camera comes fitted with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so that you can get those pictures sent to your devices and onto your social media profiles in no time!
If you’re looking for something more ‘pocket-sized’ and at a lower price-point to take on your adventures, then the IXUS 190 could be the camera for you. Its slim design might make it perfect to slip into a bag for a night out or to pop in your pocket whilst you’re out exploring. This camera might well appeal to more of a beginner market, mostly due to its reasonably simplistic functions. However, due to its relatively low price, this camera could also appeal to enthusiasts looking for an everyday camera! There are some built in filter effects to play with – just don’t expect Snapchat-esque bunny ears! The sales of these types of camera have suffered a little bit in recent years due to the increasing quality of smartphone cameras but could still be a great option.
EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM
Catchy name, right? All jokes aside, macro photography is a growing art form for those with a keen eye for detail. This year sees Canon releases its dedicated EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM macro lens with a 1.0x magnification and built-in Macro Lite technology. This accessory can focus up to 13cm, meaning that it could be ideal for those close-up macro shots. The lens features front macro lights that can be switched between double or single, giving you options when illuminating a subject. Another potential bonus with this item is that you won’t be limited to extreme close-up macro photography. It also ‘lens’ itself well to a whole manner of other types of photography! This means that you could find yourself with a device that is adaptable enough for all of life’s adventures.
